Pinch Pleat Drapery
Pinch pleat draperies feature fabric that is pinched at the top and permanently stitched into neat pleats for a decorative look. With this style, you get fuller pleats that draw the eyes upwards and a voluminous body that extends to the base of the drape. The elegant folds offer a structured, formal aesthetic, ideal for more traditional décor and tastes. Pinch pleated draperies are often installed using a rod or a track. These drapes are suitable if you plan to open and close them often.
Grommet Drapery
Grommet drapery puts a modern twist on the traditional window covering. Metal rings are punched into the top of the fabric, allowing them to glide smoothly across the curtain rod, creating larger, softer ripples than other traditional styles. Cornices and Valances
Valance
For adding that extra finishing touch to your custom drapes, valances are usually short drapery panels placed at the top of a window. This top treatment can dress up a window by itself, especially if there’s a lovely view and little need for privacy in the room. However, we often layer valances over other treatment types. For example, you can have a valance for roller shades to soften the look and accentuate your window—whether your style is casual or formal. We often install them with a curtain or drapery rod, but we sometimes staple them to a backboard.
Cornice
Though cornices serve a similar purpose to valances—to top off the window or hide window covering hardware, the main difference is in the construction. Cornices are a hard-top window treatment with a box-like construction that can be fashioned in attractive shapes and upholstered using textiles. They add structure, architectural interest, and usually a more formal aesthetic where needed. But, you shouldn’t think of cornices as old relics; the beauty of this classic top treatment is that it can be very modern, thanks to fabrics, colors, patterns, and more.
